from the private collection of William McCormick:

Luigi Corbellini( 1901-1968 )

I first met Luigi Corbellini in the late 1950s, while he was in Pasadena for a showing of his works at a local gallery. He was a flamboyant Italian, who lived in Paris. He dressed very colorfully, just like he paints. I especially liked his wistful young lady, "Fillette a la Tresse." He explained this painting in this way: he had hired a professional model to come to his studio in Paris. When she arrived, she brought her daughter with her, and Luigi found the daughter so entrancing that he painted the girl instead of her mother!

I bought the painting on the spot, and have enjoyed it for many years.

This painting is available for sale from the collector. You may contact him at cormac1@cox.net for details.
