You and Me (standing by my car)

Found a picture in my scrapbook yesterday
You and me standing by my car.
But in spite of all the driving that we've done,
Seems like we haven't gone that far.

Chorus:

You and me, you and me
Two separate verses in a song.
Playing music with a country in-between
Makes it hard to sing along.

You were a cool breeze California sort of guy
A laid-back existential bard.
Who would have thought with all the thinking that we've done
That life would turn out to be so hard.

Instrumental Interlude

In a nothern college town with winter coming down.
You blew in with liberal things to say.
That was the night that my banjo disappeared.
You ought to see John Hardy getting away.

Chorus

Many times I longed to see you,
To sit and talk with you a while.
Life's a hard way to make a living
Round people who don't know how to smile.

Instrumental Interlude

Traveling down this long, hot, dusty road,
Seems like we never get a rest.
Sharing coffee with the strangers that we meet.
Knowing friends are the best

Chorus
