Still The Same

Here of all places,
You come walking down the line.
Wearing some of your faces,
Feeling good and looking fine.
After all that we've been through,
I'm just part of your game.
You can't love someone who's not you,
You're still the same.

From deep inside your limo,
Cutting deals on your cellular phone,
You're so busy talking,
You don't notice that you're all alone.
You're just another rodent in the rat race,
In pursuit of fortune and fame.
A study in sharp teeth and white lace,
You're still the same.

Look down from the window of your high rise
As the little people shuffle to and fro.
Reality is too harsh for your eyes.
Hold tight or it might let you go.
Marie Antoinette in her tower,
Eating bread while the citizen's came,
Said, "Who needs love if you've got the power?"
You're still the same.

So you're back with your fine tailored phrases,
Telling me that you want to make amends.
Your lack of perception amazes,
Could you think I"d want to be with you again?
You can't understand your reception,
Why nobody's glad that you came,
You're living a life of deception,
You're still the same.
